REGISTERING FOR UWHS COURSES
Students register for UW approved courses in their high school classroom. Their teacher distributes forms, makes sure they are filled out properly, collects payment, and returns forms and payment to UW Educational Outreach Registration Services. Students must use their full official name on the registration and include their Social Security number.

Full payment must be made at the time of registration, which takes place at the beginning of the course. There are no refunds for UWHS courses. Students generally have three to four weeks to return their registration forms with payment attached.

Registration Confirmation, UW Student ID Number, and More
After registration is complete, UW Educational Outreach Registration Services mails each student a confirmation to their home address — not to their school address. Students should keep this document. It contains the student’s permanent UW identification number, course information, and is a receipt for payment. It also provides access to the UW Libraries.

Setting Up a UW NetID and a MyUW Account
Once students have registered for a UWHS course, they will receive information by mail describing how to create a UW NetID and a MyUW Account.

Registering for Credit
Retroactive registration (i.e., for completed coursework) is not allowed. It is suggested that students register for UW credit whether or not a student is planning to attend the UW after graduation or is unsure of the transferability of their credits to another university. Coursework satisfactorily completed normally carries credit toward a UW degree or can be transferred to other colleges or universities.

Registration for a UWHS Course Establishes a Permanent UW Record
By registering for a UWHS course, students establish a permanent UW record. Participating students will receive a permanent UW student ID number and any grades received are recorded on a UW official transcript. Failure to withdraw from a course by the deadline may result in a permanent UW grade of 0.0. For this reason, only students who are likely to succeed are encouraged to enroll in the program.
